The Company

GMA are delighted to be supporting a global engineering business that specialise in the design, manufacture and service of bespoke engineered products used for all forms of rotating equipment.

Their range of products are tailor made to enhance rotating equipment performance, reducing maintenance costs, whilst also having the ability to offer unrivalled, best in class customer service.

Due to further growth and as part of their Global strategy, they are looking to secure an Engineering Director.

The Role

As the Engineering Director you will be responsible for the engineering function, through effective leadership and management capability/execution.

You will look to establish and maintain a global engineering team structure with defined roles and accountabilities, strategically located to effectively support all execution activities in line with the group strategy.

You will lead the development and implementation of best practices, in order to create a world class engineering capability across all locations including:

1. Application of New Product Development (NPD) processes.
2. Application of lean in all routine engineering activities.
3. Live order development / execution – to minimize risk in quality and on time delivery performance.
4. Order engineering – Improve and develop global standards to create a consistent global execution of all customer orders.
5. Product engineering – To build consistent global capability to match the business sales growth.

You will look to provide engineering leadership and direction across all production facilities including technical guidance, standardisation strategy and product safety. You will also be in full control of the annual engineering budget.

This is a real unique opportunity, where based upon your success, hard work, dedication and commitment, there could be the potential to become a main board member/director, where you will take full control of the engineering function at group level.

The Candidate

In order to be considered for the position of Engineering Director, ideally you will:

1. Be based in the Industrial North Midlands of England, UK or willing to relocate there.
2. Be from a mechanical engineering background (chartered preferable).
3. Have a management qualification (MBA or equivalent) or proven years of experience.
4. Have extensive experience of working in the rotating or static equipment industry.
5. Have a successful track record of leading an engineering function across design, manufacture and ideally aftermarket, of a large, multi-disciplined engineering team.
6. Qualified to Green Belt as a minimum or a good understanding of CIP is an advantage.
7. Be ethical in your approach, be adaptable, with the ability to build and forge strong relationships.
8. Have excellent communication capability.
9. Be entrepreneurial, innovative and creative.
