Our client is currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager - Telecoms supporting a major nuclear Project. The Telecoms scope consists of private radio, public mobile networks, and fibre across the whole main development site. This is a varied telecoms scope across a challenging site; you'll lead on key elements of the delivery to ensure the site's key dates and objectives are met.
This role will engage with key Telecoms stakeholders such as Vodafone, BT, and private radio contractors. The telecoms infrastructure is essential to support the construction of the Nuclear Power station. This is both a delivery and operational role and will be involved in procurement for new contracts required, project delivery for installing new infrastructure, on-site quality checks of workmanship, and operations for the installed infrastructure.
Once the initial fibre and radio equipment is installed, the operations side is key to monitor the performance of the infrastructure in line with the workforce and the construction site developments. As more people, plant & steelwork come on site, this will put more stress on the systems installed, causing potential capacity and interference issues. The Telecoms team need to ensure the initial infrastructure caters for the peak capacity, but interference issues will be hard to avoid due to the amount of steelwork and concrete being constructed. The construction manager will need to work with contractors to put in enhancements as the site develops and new areas are created which can't be planned for.
As the Telecoms Construction Manager, you will play a vital role in resolving technical radio and fibre issues, risk mitigation, and change management while maintaining a high standard of compliance with site standards. On-site inspections are expected as part of this role to monitor the quality of construction work as it progresses - this is part of the NEC supervisor role.
