Job description

Mountjoy specialises in providing professional and high-quality construction, refurbishment, building maintenance and facilities management services across the south of England.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Plumber to join our dynamic team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.

We are seeking a conscientious and enthusiastic Plumber with a can-do attitude and a flexible approach. You must have relevant qualifications and broad commercial and domestic experience in your core trade.

In this role, you will carry out a wide variety of domestic and commercial plumbing repairs in occupied student accommodation, buildings and empty rooms. The work will include fitting various types of sanitary ware, first and second fixing pipework, and various servicing of PPM. There will also be work on unvented systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Diagnose and rectify faults within core and other trade related repair requests.
  2. Ensure that the quality of work meets the highest possible standards at all times.
  3. Undertake all work efficiently and cost-effectively, minimising non-productive time where possible.
  4. Apply applicable Health & Safety rules in all you do, using risk assessments, method statements and PPE when needed.
  5. Be willing to work out of hours to the requirement of the client and participate in the call-out rota.
  6. Respond swiftly to all emergency situations and resolve them efficiently.
  7. Work within the Mountjoy group and assist other contracts as directed by the Contract Manager as and when the business dictates.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Able to use the phone or PDA to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly and concisely.
  2. Comfortable in dealing with residents and representatives of Southampton University.
  3. Understand the need to complete outstanding pieces of work and deal with work completely and in one go.
  4. Have an organised approach.
  5. Able to self-manage and be self-motivated, prioritizing and programming work in the most efficient manner.
  6. Able to use knowledge and judgement to make the right decision and find effective solutions to problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing or equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 2-5 years of working in Building Maintenance and Education environments.
