Here at Optum, we are looking for a technical and data-driven Product Owner to join our growing EMIS-X product team on a permanent basis.

You will be joining a team which possesses great knowledge and skills. However, we are a company who embrace new ideas and innovative solutions which can create efficiencies to ensure we continue to deliver value through delivering better care using technology innovation.

This is an exciting time to join us as a business as we continue to grow. You will play a significant part in delivering the entire product lifecycle of our EMIS-X capabilities and shaping the next evolutionary stage in big data health analytics.

If you want to join a company where you can grow, build on your expertise and really make a difference to the healthcare industry, then we are for you.

As a business we are going through a period of growth, and we are looking for a technically focused Product Owner to work closely with the data team to drive the quality and vision of our Health Analytics data products.

What you’ll do

As a Product Owner you will play a significant part in ensuring that we deliver a successful set of data products and services which support Health Analytics use cases on our EMIS-X Analytics platform. You will be aligned to the ‘Explorer’ product which provides users with secure access to our data lake and enables self-service business intelligence through the ability to query, explore and analyse data which can optimise local and national healthcare delivery.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team that is driving and delivering the success of data-driven health technology products. Working remotely, you will be responsible for owning and maintaining the data-related product backlog, plus developing user stories and prioritising requirements for the development team.

Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

  • Own and manage the data product backlog.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including data analysts and the wider product and development teams to gather data requirements.
  • Defining clear acceptance criteria for data-related user stories and tasks, providing the data team with a comprehensive understanding of success criteria.
  • Participate in sprint planning meetings with the data team providing input on the prioritization of data-related user stories and technical tasks.
  • Work closely with the data team to address technical issues and challenges related to data processing, analysis, and visualization.
  • Stay updated with emerging data technologies to guide the team in making informed data-related decisions.

Who you’ll be

We need you to be an experienced Product Owner or Business Analyst with an understanding of relevant data technologies such as SQL, business intelligence tools and data analysis. You will be inquisitive, understanding the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders to deliver the product roadmap to the market and the wider business.

Coming from a product or data science background, you will have experience working in an agile environment previously with knowledge of strategic backlog planning and management of data-related products. Collaboration is essential; you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of engaging with technologists and breaking down complex data tasks into manageable deliverables to meet sprint targets.

Other professional and technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;

  • Previous experience and passion for data-related product delivery
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile
  • Strong technical background with proficiencies in data technologies including SQL, data modelling and business intelligence tools
  • An awareness of data and analytics tools (e.g. Spark, Trino, PowerBI etc)
  • Strong collaborator with internal and external stakeholders – exposure to working with customers to drive product development
  • Excellent technical problem solving
  • Experience within health care is desirable but not essential to your success
