Job description

Our client is a leading national provider of Social Housing, and they require 2 Housing Caretakers to join their busy Temporary Accommodation and Assessment Service.


The hours of work are 07:00 to 19:30pm over 7 to 8 days in a two-week period, rostered. The hourly rate is 12.00 per hour.


The purpose of the role is to provide an on-site presence at supported accommodation owned or leased by Home Group, which may include waking cover overnight and/or at weekends, between hours specified by the Senior Client Service Manager or Client Services Manager. The post will generally be lone working providing a presence when support staff are not on site to ensure the safety and security of the building and occupants, which is also conducive to cohesive neighbour and community relations.


Responsibilities:

  1. Provide on-site presence which may include overnight waking cover or other unsocial hours as required by the service, in maintaining the safety and security of tenants and the building.
  2. Serve as the first point of contact for the 'on call' system, ensuring clear and concise information is communicated to the 'on call support worker'.
  3. Liaise appropriately with the sleep-in worker in the event of emergencies.
  4. Supervise the entry and exit of the building for the purpose of security and safety of tenants.
  5. Maintain a full and accurate log of events during the shift for clear communication to service staff.
  6. Ensure the security of the building by monitoring CCTV and patrolling at regular intervals.
  7. Carry out cleaning duties of all common areas and vacant rooms in the absence of cleaning staff.
  8. Identify defects in relation to monthly defect monitoring and reduce turnaround times.
  9. Participate in ensuring the security and safety of service users, staff, visitors, contractors, premises, and equipment.
  10. Adhere to health and safety responsibilities in the workplace.
  11. Act as the first point of contact for any emergency on call system within the service.
  12. Take immediate action in contacting emergency services and inform the support/sleep-in worker of any details and further action if required.
  13. Ensure compliance with Home Group's Health and Safety policy and processes.
  14. Engage with vulnerable people residing in the services in a professional, non-discriminatory way, demonstrating a caring and respectful approach.
  15. Undertake any other appropriate duties as directed by the Client Service Manager / Senior Client Service Manager.

An enhanced DBS check is required for these roles. Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility in their working week.
