Librarian

A wonderful Secondary School in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire area are on the hunt for a Librarian for a September start. This is a permanent vacancy.

As a Librarian, you will ensure that the library is at the heart of school life and plays a central role in developing a culture of reading across the school and community, and drive reading progress. The school knows that reading must be at the heart of the school, both in the curriculum and in the way in which they foster a love of reading for pupils throughout their time at school, so they become life-long lovers of reading.

ROLE DETAILS:

1. Lead on the delivery of establishing a beautiful library for the Secondary site.
2. Manage and maintain the school library and all its resources.
3. Identify and buy quality resources for the school library (and classroom libraries where appropriate) to meet the needs of the National Curriculum and to ensure the school has an age-appropriate, challenging, diverse and inclusive reading offer for pupils.
4. Teach pupils how to use the library successfully and how to enjoy choosing books.
5. Promote the enjoyment of and excitement about reading to all pupils.
6. Provide a warm, welcoming climate in the library and across the school to help pupils to develop as happy and successful learners.
7. Support pupils working outside of class and after school with their learning.
8. Run reading interventions, teaching pupils how to read, how to comprehend and how to love reading.

PERSON DETAILS:

1. Right to work in the UK - Essential.
2. Recognised professional qualification for librarianship or information management system - Desirable.
3. Ideally experience working in a Library previously or similar / transferrable experience.
4. Must be a team player.
5. Must be willing to go above and beyond daily for pupils.
