Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

These vacancies, available from 6th Aug 2025 to 3rd Feb 2026, currently exist within the West Region of the Scotland Deanery in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

These posts hold Educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will be appointed as LATs.

To practise medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence to practise.

The Person Specifications for the varying levels are displayed in this job pack. Alternatively, they can be downloaded from the joint Specialty Medical Training (SMT) website: https://specialtytraining.hee.nhs.uk/Recruitment/Person-specifications.

Please note that a minimum of 6 months Core level anaesthetic training in the United Kingdom is desirable for all posts in this recruitment round, including CT1. LAT posts are used to support training progression within the RCOA curriculum, as such priority will be given to candidates who can evidence progression in stage 1 training capabilities or who need stage 2 training support between national recruitment windows.

Please specify on your application the level you wish to apply to and ensure your experience is clearly detailed.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde encourages applications from all sections of the community. We promote a culture of inclusion across the organisation and are proud of the diverse workforce we have.

By submitting your application, you confirm that all answers are your own work, reflect your personal knowledge, skills and experience, and have not been solely produced or altered by AI or similar technologies. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in your application being withdrawn from the application process.
