Job description

Are you a senior lawyer in Pensions looking for a 24-36 month track to partnership?

This large, progressive Pensions department has several new roles available due to significant growth making it a very exciting time to join - the partner has identified that for the right person, they would be looking at a 2-3 year track to partnership.

The Firm

This firm is headquartered in London with over 10 offices across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. With a large international presence, they hold a diverse range of expertise. You will find the overriding ethos of the firm is quality - they pride themselves on individuality, teamwork, commitment and straight-talking approach. Technology and innovation plays a key part within this firm, but importantly the people are integral to this firm's growth.

This firm is a Top 30 ranked law firm and as such, you will be exposed to a large amount of international work. With over 25% of their staff based outside the UK you will receive plenty of opportunities overseas, in particular, a large amount of their associates benefit from international secondments. In an ever-changing and growing market, this firm has the brand not only domestically but internationally to really drive your career forward.

The Role

This is a stand out opportunity for a Pensions Managing Associate with 6+ years PQE to join this top 30 law firm in London.

You'll be joining partners who are ex-magic circle lawyers, who left to gain control and a better balance. The team is also home to a counsel level lawyer who used to be at Slaughter & May.

The team requires a safe pair of hands at the senior level (also recruiting at more junior levels to further support) as they have won a lot of new work. The team is totally self-sufficient making it a dynamic environment where every day is unique.

There are juniors to delegate to, seniors to work with and a lot of great opportunities to progress internally.

USP - No corporate support! The team is self-sufficient in generating their work, and so you'll find very little involvement with the corporate team making work-life-balance more possible compared to working in a team where you're supporting on such transactions. The majority of their work is trustee advisory work (which makes this role stand out in the market).

This role would certainly appeal to someone who wants to achieve partnership - the partner is ready to work closely with the successful managing associate to help them also get there.

There are 13 people in the advisory team (which this role is to join) and also there are more in litigation, who will support you.

Given there's no corporate support work, the lawyers in this team get a better balance of work/home life - they work hard, but hours are consistent.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • A qualified solicitor with 6+ years of PQE as part of a leading Pensions team.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Enthusiasm for intellectually challenging work.
  • Competitive salary and excellent benefits with clear and structured progression paths.
  • A flexible and friendly working environment and a supportive team culture.
  • Exposure to large, high-profile UK and international issues.
