As the Lead Commercial Vehicle Technician, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our vehicles perform at their best. You’ll dive deep into root cause analysis, providing actionable insights and technical support that drive both our new product launches and ongoing project deliveries.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Commercial Vehicle Technician:

  • Collaborate with the design team and customers to fully understand design intents.
  • Analyse and address root cause failures, investigating reliability and warranty issues, component failures, and more.
  • Support the Aftersales team, including service centres, technicians, and customer service managers, with technical and engineering expertise.
  • Manage the lifecycle of allocated products, conducting warranty analysis, failure investigations, and implementing design and process fixes.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, operators, suppliers, technicians, and production staff, ensuring clear understanding of issues and remedial actions.
  • Document all investigations, communications, and actions accurately for future reference.

Requirements of the ideal Lead Commercial Vehicle Technician:

  • Extensive experience in PSV and/or HGV engineering.
  • Proven track record of addressing complex issues with third parties, driving root cause analysis and implementing permanent corrective measures.
  • Strong engineering knowledge in areas such as:

Structural design, steelwork, and fabrication

Powertrains, engines, transmissions, braking, and pneumatic systems in trucks/buses

Bodywork and interiors, including materials, design, and relevant regulations for PSVs

Electrical systems, CANbus networks, multiplexing, EV systems, and general vehicle electrics

  • Manufacturing and assembly methods and practices

Not essential but would be an advantage to have:

  • Knowledge of electric power systems.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple ongoing projects and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at using visual tools, diagrams, drawings, and reports.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, reports, and other technical data.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in 3D parametric design software such as SolidWorks.
