Qualifications

The role
As a Pilot for Police Scotland, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. BMCSO is a leading provider of aviation services for mission-critical operations across ten countries. BMCSO is part of Babcock International Group, a global provider of critical asset, infrastructure and training support to many sectors including emergency services, energy and defence.


Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Babcock currently operates 24-hour operations in support of Police Scotland Air Support Unit utilising the EC 135. The role offers varied, challenging and interesting flying throughout Scotland.


This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based at our Govan base; candidates should ideally live within 45 minutes or 25 miles commute.


Essential experience of the Pilot:

  • 1500 hours of which 500 hours is Pilot in Command on twin turbine helicopters;
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters overland with significant experience operating in a low-level environment;
  • 50 hours VFR at night of which 20 hours as pilot in command.


Qualifications for the Pilot:

  • Hold a UK ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR;
  • Class 1 Medical;
  • Ideally, already hold a Type Rating on either an EC135 or H145;
  • Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.


Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Police Scotland Vetting security clearance for this role.
