A Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious biomedical engineer to undertake research in the field of bioengineering research. This researcher will join Professor Sarah Cartmell’s group and work in collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, including a travel period as a visiting researcher. This collaboration is part of a grant funded by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, focusing on tendon repair, where the Cartmell Group will concentrate on mechanically and electrically stimulated bioreactor design and development using mammalian cells.
You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in biomaterials, bioengineering, or a similar field. Expertise in cell culture, bioreactor design, computer-aided design, tissue engineering, biocompatibility testing, and mechanical testing techniques are essential. You should be capable of working on your own initiative and assisting in leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required. The appointed research associate will support Professor Cartmell by grant writing, manuscript journal submission, and assisting with MSc supervision and undergraduate student projects.
