Framestore is an Oscar, Bafta, and Emmy award-winning global creative company working across film, advertising, AR/MR/VR, theme park attractions, and pre/post visualisation, among many other creative endeavours. These are supported by Framestore's state-of-the-art products, tools and pipeline; built, maintained and managed by our in-house Technology team of developers, programmers and engineers.

Framestore’s Pre-Production Services division enables filmmakers and showrunners to make early-stage, creative decisions that can then guide their entire production; working independently as well as supporting the work of Framestore's Film, TV, VR and Interactive Advertising departments.

Framestore Pre-Production Services is expanding its Virtual Production team and is recruiting for an On-Set Technical Director to be responsible for the fluent running of virtual cameras, virtual scouting sessions and virtual production stages for acquiring in-camera VFX.

Our ideal candidate for this role will need to be an excellent communicator and team player, have professional experience across a variety of Virtual Production technologies, including hardware and software, and will be flexible as the work will be mostly on set with requirements for travel on a show basis and presence in our Chancery Lane offices required at times. This is a UK-based role and unfortunately, we are not able to provide VISAs at this time.

What you'll do:

  • Assist the VP supervisor with the set-up and running of in-camera VFX
  • Prepare and run virtual scouting and virtual camera sessions
  • Ensure and maintain hardware is correctly set up and calibrated
  • Assist the capture department in the set-up and operation of systems related to the Capture Lab

What we're looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of game engines and realtime rendering
  • Experience On-set in an operational capacity
  • Experience with nDisplay / ICVFX
  • Experience with source control
  • Experience with VR/AR equipment
  • Great time management
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

You might also have:

  • Experience with motion capture systems
  • Understanding of cameras and cinematography principles
  • Experience working with blueprints/coding in C++
  • Previous professional experience in film, TV or games
  • Experience with being client facing

We aim to encourage and support all of our current and future employees to achieve their potential. No job applicant will receive less favourable treatment on any basis when applying for a career with us.
