Job description

Bridgepark Capital is one of the UK's most dynamic emerging non-bank lenders, reshaping the real estate financing landscape. We provide innovative bridging loans and development finance solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients - from individual investors to established property developers across England & Wales. As we continue our exceptional growth trajectory, we're seeking an Underwriter to help drive our next phase of expansion.

The firm was established by seasoned property developers in response to their own frustrations when undertaking Bridging Finance. Our goal is to provide flexibility and speed of financing for borrowers while offering investors consistent, reliable, risk adjusted returns.

About the Role

After a notable period of expansion that has seen us invest over £100 million in the three years since inception, we are seeking an experienced and driven Underwriter to join our growing team of experienced finance and real estate professionals. This is a pivotal role that will work directly with our Managing Director and Head of Finance to drive a culture of Underwriting excellence.

This is a fast paced and rewarding role, providing exposure across the entire business and opportunities to grow whilst learning from our experienced senior management team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of loan applications, including financial documents, credit histories, property valuations, and other relevant information.
  2. Assess risks associated with each application, considering factors such as borrower creditworthiness, loan-to-value ratios, and property values.
  3. Make informed underwriting decisions, including approving, denying, or conditionally approving loan applications, based on our lending standards.
  4. Assist in presenting loan recommendation papers to our credit and investment committees.
  5. Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and industry standards throughout the underwriting process.
  6. Collaborate with borrowers, brokers, our Originations team and other stakeholders to gather necessary information, clarify requirements, and provide updates on the underwriting process.
  7. Ongoing development and refinement of our Underwriting process. Optimising as we grow our loan applications.
  8. Guide and develop junior team members.
What We’re Looking For
  1. 4+ years of relevant Real Estate experience is required, ideally within Bridging or Property Finance and a keen interest in Property Development. Exposure to Residential RE is also a bonus.
  2. Strong attention to detail with excellent numeracy skills and the ability to identify risks at an early stage.
  3. A good understanding of KYC/AML, Credit Referencing reports, Land Registry reports, RICS Valuations, Property and Contract law.
  4. Capable of dealing with a high volume of workflow and prioritising accordingly.
  5. Excellent communication skills. An ability to build and foster relationships with our stakeholders.
  6. A strong project manager with experience driving operational efficiency and keeping initiatives on track with little oversight.

We welcome candidates who are seeking to rapidly advance their careers by gaining exposure to a fast-paced, challenging environment that fosters innovation.
