Job description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, suitably experienced, and qualified Clinical Teaching & Research Fellow to assist in the delivery of Undergraduate teaching within the hospital. It is anticipated that around 16 hours per week will be devoted to teaching activities. Teaching will be based within the Department of Surgery (Urology) and will focus on teaching Medical Students who rotate to University Hospital Ayr from the University of Glasgow. Commencing 6th August 2025 for 1-2 years, you will also be expected to undertake Clinical Research and/or Audit projects in Ayrshire in addition to studying for a further qualification in Medical Education.

The postholder will be required to undertake clinical duties within the Department of Surgery, which will account for approximately 16 hours per week. On-call is not a current requirement for this post. Should this change in the future, it will be discussed with the successful candidate, who would be suitably experienced and qualified to participate at a middle-grade level. Ad hoc on-call sessions may be available on an ongoing basis, which would be paid national locum rates. Excellent communication skills and General Surgical experience are essential.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is a condition of this post, and the successful applicant will require to join the scheme prior to appointment.
