Job description

We’re Motion Project Management, a thriving PM consultancy based in Manchester City Centre - working on projects across the UK and EMEA. With major projects currently ongoing in the Scotland region.

MPM was born in 2021, and throughout these past 4 years we have had continued, steady growth. We’re working on some incredible projects and specialise in highly-operational spaces. We’re super passionate about the work that we do and most importantly, how we do it.

Our culture is built on our 3 company pillars, ‘Simplicity’, ‘Problem-solving’ & ‘Caring’. We’re committed to ensuring that we provide our people with a space that is open, inclusive, and provides them with the tools that they need to grow and flourish in their careers.

The Role:

As an Associate Director at MPM, you'll play a key role in our Project Management team and you will be the driving force for success on our Scotland based projects (and beyond).

This role will be based from Scotland on a remote basis. The right person for this role must be commutable distance from either Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is a really exciting opportunity for the right person to gain invaluable experience, work on some incredible projects and grow a team of their own.

Responsibilities:
  1. Leading the Charge: Take the lead on delivering complex construction projects. You’ll keep everything on track, from timelines and budgets to quality and stakeholder management, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
  2. Client Relationships: Build and nurture solid relationships with clients. Be their go-to point of contact, and find ways to offer them even more value, helping to expand our work together.
  3. Team Leadership: Guide and support our project management team. Guiding our Assistant PM’s and PM’s to achieve success. The aim of this role will be to eventually manage a team of your own in the Scotland area.
  4. Business Development: Help us grow! You’ll be involved in writing proposals, pitching new ideas, and identifying opportunities to expand our business in Scotland. Stay on top of industry trends and help us stay ahead of the game. This is a key part of this role and an incredible opportunity for the right person who is ready to take that next step in their career.
  5. Risk Management: Spot potential risks before they happen and put measures in place to mitigate them. You’ll ensure we’re always working within industry standards and regulations.
  6. Financial Oversight: Keep an eye on budgets and project costs, working closely with the project Cost Consultant, and internally with our finance team and Senior Directors to ensure everything adds up.
  7. Quality Control: Make sure our projects meet high standards by sticking to our quality assurance processes and constantly looking for ways to improve.
  8. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with everyone involved, from contractors to architects, and keep things running smoothly with key stakeholders.
About You:
  • 2+ years of experience at an Associate Director level, ready for that next step in your career towards Project Director in the next few years.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in project management within the construction industry at a consultancy.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction/Project Management or a related field is ideal.
  • Hands-On Approach: This is not a role for ‘armchair project managers’. We need someone who is ready to roll their sleeves up, lead by example, and actively contribute to project success.
  • A knack for business development, or a clear hunger to learn this skill and grow our presence in Scotland.
  • Ambitious mindset with a track record of driving successful project outcomes.
  • Proactive approach to work.
  • The ability to work remotely- so self motivated and disciplined.
What We Offer:

We’re a pretty great bunch (if we do say so ourselves), we love to look after our people and always find ways to thank them for the amazing work that they do. We’re focused on ensuring that ‘Sunday Scaries’ are a thing of the past! We want our people to bring their whole selves to work and so we are proactive in creating a positive, caring atmosphere.

On top of this we also offer:

  • 25 Days holidays + Bank Holidays
  • Private Health Insurance
  • Life Insurance Policy
  • Pension
  • Paid Day Off For Your Birthday
  • Bonus Structure
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • 1 paid Charity day per year

This role will be on a remote basis to begin, with frequent visits to our Scotland sites required. You will also be required to visit our Manchester HQ regularly (monthly basis).

Diversity:

At MPM we want you to come as you are. We want our workplace to represent the wonderfully diverse world that we live in. We encourage people of all different beliefs, ethnicities, genders and religions to join our team. All we ask is that you are kind and ambitious.

Join Our Team:

If you think you’re the type of person we need here at Motion then please apply, we’d love to hear from you!
