Fleet Management is a key support service for many internal and external customers at Coventry City Council. We are based in a fully equipped vehicle workshop at our Whitley Depot site and are responsible for the repair and maintenance of approximately 500 items including vehicles and plant machinery and equipment. We are also responsible for the provision of fuel to our customers and provide a driver training service to many customers.

What is the job role?

The role of the Legal Compliance & Asset Management Officer is to ensure the effective asset management and utilisation of all fleet items ensuring optimisation of resources.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing efficient administration to ensure that all transport-related legislative requirements are met.
  2. Ensuring compliance with our Operator Licence undertakings and company driving policy.
  3. Working with fleet customers to ensure all service level agreements are met.
  4. Supervising and supporting the Technical Assistant team, ensuring that all fleet tasks are completed, and all costs are accurately recharged and monitored.
  5. Identifying ways to ensure sustainability to continue providing council services.

Who are we looking for?

Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience of working in a transport-related environment, but for the right candidate, full training will be provided.

If you enjoy a challenge and working in a busy, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, this could be the opportunity for you. We are looking for someone with a hands-on approach, willing to attend training courses and who can keep up to date with changes in legislation.

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  1. Effectively manage a demanding workload and deal with conflicting priorities.
  2. Possess strong organisational skills and the initiative to prioritise their own workloads and those of the team.
  3. Be resilient, flexible, and focused on achieving results.
  4. Interpret data & apply legislation.
  5. Produce reports and KPI figures and where necessary take corrective action.
  6. Hold a current driving licence.
