Chief of Staff Job Description

Marcilly Recruitment’s client, a member of an international royal family, is seeking an EA / Chief of Staff for a role that is roughly split 65% business / 35% private. The successful EA / Chief of Staff will work across their government and international business interests (UK & EU) as well as their private business interests here in the UK and Europe. There will also be ad hoc private support for the principal and his family when they are in town.

There will be peaks and troughs to the role as and when they are in town. They have an extensive team globally who you will work with at times, but there will be quieter periods as well as busy periods.

Salary: £60K - £90K

Hours: 09:00 – 18:00 – hours will vary with peaks and troughs

Benefits: medical insurance; pension; 25 days holiday + bank holidays; discretionary bonus

Start date: ideally September – happy to wait a 1-2 month notice period

Location: London + international travel once a quarter

The role is largely remote here in London, working from home. You will attend meetings and work with the principal when they are in the UK with some ad hoc travel.

EA / Chief of Staff Responsibilities

  • Diary management for the principal, arranging meetings with VIPs, investors, business executives, politicians, diplomats etc.
  • Organising all the logistics for meetings, from small intimate dinners to larger scale meetings in the prime suites of top hotels. Every last detail must be catered for – strong levels of attention to detail is a must
  • Event management
  • Hospitality – sourcing tickets and boxes for Europe’s top events and attractions
  • Correspondence and communication on behalf of your principal
  • Preparing presentations and briefings ahead of meetings
  • Managing high-level relationships on behalf of your principal and attending meetings in his absence when necessary.
  • Sourcing staff for the principal when they are in town.
  • Travel once a quarter to ensure the seamless set up of large-scale events
  • Extensive travel booking – private charter, yachts etc, making detailed itineraries with pre-booking of activities, restaurants, excursions etc
  • Organising the driver’s schedule
  • Private support and lifestyle management for the family when they are in town.
  • Being a go to for any of their needs.
  • Having the initiative to source hard to find good and services
  • Research ahead of meetings
  • Minute meetings, creating agendas and action follow ups
  • Building a black book of contacts

This is a newly created EA / Chief of Staff role which the successful candidate will definitely be able to grow and make their own as they prove their capabilities.

The client needs someone who will be able to manage very high-level relationships on the principal’s behalf. They are seeking someone who is polished, bright, articulate, professional and engaging. The successful EA / Chief of Staff must have very strong communication skills with an excellent grasp of the English language – perfect spelling and grammar.
