Job description

Service Care solutions are working with the Scottish Government who are seeking a highly skilled family Solicitor to join the CERID team for a 6-month contract. This role involves providing expert legal advice and drafting legislation for SG Policy Clients on crucial matters concerning children and young people. The position focuses on various policies, including historical child abuse redress, child protection, youth justice, and children's rights and well-being.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide comprehensive legal advice relating to policies impacting children and young people.
  2. Draft legislation pertaining to redress for historical child abuse in care, looked after children, and youth justice.
  3. Support the implementation of The Promise, an Independent Review of the Scottish care system.
  4. Work with stakeholders to ensure a sound understanding of public and administrative law in Scotland.
  5. Communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively to both colleagues and stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
  1. A thorough understanding of public and administrative law in Scotland. Currently a Practising Solicitor, registered with the Law Society of Scotland.
  2. Strong ability to manage and interpret data to support decision-making processes.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships.
  4. An organized approach to workload management, adapting to varied priorities as needed.
