On the track, Formula 1 is a team sport. And the business behind is the same. We’re looking for an Audio Engineer to join our Media Engineering team, who are based in our Biggin Hill Campus.
The Audio Engineer will play a key role in guaranteeing F1’s audio systems and outgoing lines to partner broadcasters both at the Grand Prix events and at our Biggin Hill Campus.
Reporting into the Audio Engineering Manager, you will:
Install, commission, maintain and operate F1’s inventory of broadcast audio equipment both at Biggin Hill and at Grand Prix events, with a specific emphasis on the live production of F1’s international TV Broadcasts.
Assist in the design and specification of upgrades to F1’s audio engineering infrastructure, both at Biggin Hill and at Grand Prix events, in order to continue to meet F1’s current and future broadcast requirements.
Keep alongside developments in TV broadcast audio engineering and consider how these may be incorporated into future F1 engineering solutions.
Assist with the preparation of details costing for upgrades and projects being undertaken and keeping within those projected costs once authorized.
Rig, and then following the event, de-rig F1’s broadcast audio infrastructure at Grand Prix events.
Guarantee audio signal flow and outgoing lines in F1’s systems and to our broadcast partners.
Work closely with F1’s vision and RF departments and F1’s broadcast partners.
Specification Essentials:
Experience or understanding of an environment encompassing sound mixing and/or guarantee on large scale television outside broadcasts
Operation and set-up of audio consoles
Operation and set up of copper or RF over fibre systems
A high degree of computer literacy
Understanding and interest in upcoming audio over IP and remote production technologies
Understanding of operational signal flow in audio systems
Ability to extensively travel internationally
Desirable:
BSc in Broadcast Audio Engineering
Operation and set-up of large broadcast communications systems
An understanding of PSC and field recording equipment
An understanding of or experience using broadcast standard RF Equipment
