ROLE & RESPONSIBILITES

RCD are looking for an experienced ‘Technical Design Manager’ to support the development of an extensive pipeline of renewable energy assets, at both distribution and transmission level, in the UK.

The role will be varied and will include the following responsibilities:

  1. Designing and modelling utility scale ground mounted solar, BESS, and wind projects to optimise performance and profitability.
  2. Creating engineering drawings and site layouts using AutoCAD, PVCase and other design software for grid connections, planning applications and feasibility studies.
  3. Managing all internal design processes and any external third parties to ensure designs are produced on time and to a high standard.
  4. Reviewing and approving technical construction drawings and supporting EPCs with pre construction activities.
  5. Providing the wider team with any technical design support required in the development of projects.
  6. Keeping up to date with the latest design software, renewable technologies, and UK regulations, and understanding the supply chain to select appropriate / available equipment and materials.
  7. Attending and contributing to various internal and external meetings including technical team meetings, development meetings, and investment meetings.
  8. Contributing to written reports for internal management and external customers.
  9. Supporting, coaching and leading other members of the technical team.
  10. Establishing and/or refining systems and processes to improve commercial and technical oversight of projects.
  11. Any other additional roles that the Company may communicate to you from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  1. A keen interest in renewable energy and sustainability.
  2. An electrical engineering degree or degree in a similar discipline.
  3. More than 3-5 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector and specifically in the design and engineering of large scale solar, BESS and wind projects.
  4. Strong understanding of PV, BESS and wind components and their specifications.
  5. Knowledge of NEC requirements, construction practices and H&S.
  6. Experience with NSIP scale projects.
  7. Competent in using design and modelling software, such as PVSyst/PVSol, PVCase, and AutoCAD.
  8. Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  9. Strong written and communication skills with report writing experience.
  10. Well versed in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
