Legal Assistant Private Client Wills & Probate

Full time, Permanent Harpenden Competitive Ref No: IPRS7176. We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join a friendly, supportive private client team. It is a busy role working alongside another assistant supporting a team of Private Client solicitors. It requires a highly organised individual with the ability to multi-task, prioritise duties and remain calm under pressure.

Duties:

  1. Opening files, including ID checks
  2. Archiving files and arranging their retrieval
  3. Audio Typing
  4. Preparation of forms, documents, emails and letters
  5. Handling client queries, liaising with third parties and making file notes of conversations
  6. Diary management
  7. Regular face to face contact with clients
  8. Management of Wills and Deeds database
  9. Preparation of files in readiness for archiving which includes scanning files
  10. Undertake administrative duties, such as photocopying and scanning
  11. Scanning incoming post and dealing with matters arising
  12. Filing and post duties
  13. Maintain a tidy, organised workspace
  14. Working as part of a team in Harpenden but also the wider department in the other offices

Requirements:

  1. It is desired that applicants have already worked in a legal assistant role, ideally within Private Client
  2. Understand the importance of providing high standards of client care and adopts this approach when handling a client’s affairs and takes an interest in building and maintaining client relationships
  3. Excellent communication skills; provides a professional service whilst being compassionate when dealing with sensitive issues
  4. Demonstrates persistence and commitment to completing tasks and objectives
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  6. Fast typing speed with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  7. Excellent spelling and grammar
  8. Professional appearance
  9. Good knowledge of Outlook, Word, or equivalent with experience using Case Management systems
  10. Flexible and adaptable
  11. Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
  12. Able to remain calm under pressure when dealing with a busy workload
  13. Able to use initiative and take a proactive approach
  14. Attentive with a positive attitude
  15. Reliable and dependable
