Job description

We are currently looking for a qualified Nursery Manager for a nursery based in Coventry.

The role will be Monday to Thursday 9am-4pm.

This open spaced early years setting is looking for a Manager with a passion for driving the nursery to maintain its high standards and has a passion for working with a strong team. As we are open to consideration if you are a deputy manager looking for career progression, we would be open to consider.

Skills:

  • Good leadership skills to lead a team such as Babies, toddler and pre-school teams, train and motivate them.
  • Be warm, bubbly, and confident to be able to build relationships with Parents.
  • Organised to do headcount, funding and invoicing, although very automated.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safeguarding:
  • Act as one of the designated safeguarding leads, holding ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day running of the nursery in terms of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Keep abreast of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices in safeguarding.
  • Conduct regular training for staff on safeguarding procedures and ensure awareness among all team members.
  • Lead and coordinate the nursery's response to safeguarding concerns, working closely with external agencies when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of safeguarding concerns and actions taken.
  1. Financial Management and Profitability:
  • Collaborate with the director on financial matters, focusing on budget management and profitability.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify cost optimization opportunities, and contribute to strategic financial planning.
  1. Educational Excellence and EYFS Implementation:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a high-quality curriculum that aligns with Ofsted standards and incorporates the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Conduct mock Ofsted inspections to ensure preparedness for official evaluations.
  1. Operational Oversight:
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, resource allocation (ratios), and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment.
  • Actively work to increase nursery occupancy, implementing marketing strategies and community outreach initiatives.
  • Showcase the nursery to potential sign-ups, providing engaging tours that highlight the fun and supportive environment.
  1. Staff Development and Delegation:
  • Collaborate closely with the deputy manager to ensure effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Ensure adequate knowledge sharing among the team, enhancing overall competence and flexibility.
  1. Sick/Holiday Cover Planning:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Sick/holiday cover plan to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Work closely with the deputy manager to facilitate seamless transitions during staff absences.
  • Cross-train staff members to cover essential roles, minimizing disruptions during Sick/holidays.
  • Work in the room if necessary to cover.
  1. Creating a Fun, Supportive Environment:
  • Implement creative and engaging activities for children that promote learning and enjoyment within the EYFS framework.
  • Foster a supportive and positive atmosphere among staff, encouraging collaboration and mutual support.
  • Organize events or themed weeks to enhance the overall fun and welcoming atmosphere of the nursery.
