Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering and environment consultancy, fundamentally committed to sustainable progress and service delivery across a wide range of sectors, and have an expanding international presence with approx. 2600 employees globally in over 40 offices in 21 countries. UK operations are growing rapidly, with over 140 professional staff providing process engineering, civil engineering, energy, environmental, international development consultancy, and project management services to a variety of clients.
Due to increasing project commissions and appointments, they are seeking to appoint a full-time experienced Senior Structural Engineer.

Purpose of Job Role
The delivery of projects, managing a team of structural Engineers and Technicians on a day to day structural designs and calculations.

Key Accountabilities

1. Project Delivery - The delivery of a project in a timely manner and on budget.
2. Collaborating with the Client - Working with the client to develop a full project brief ensuring that they achieve their desired result.
3. Managing Project Accounts - Ensuring that projects are undertaken to the specified budget and timeframes.
4. Managing Project Teams - Ensuring that projects are adequately resourced and the ensuring the time spent is as per the budgeted times.
5. Preparing Calculations - Preparing Building Regulations calculations packages for submission to the Local Authority.

Specific Tasks

1. The preparation of fee proposals for submission to the client.
2. Ensuring that the project folder is maintained and that all team members are using the system to the current standards.
3. Ensuring that QA standards are maintained within the projects and that all calculations and drawings are checked before issue.
4. Managing the project on Maconomy ensuring that every project each month has an ETC, Client Invoice, project spend is monitored against project progress.
5. Ensuring time is spent aiding Management with tasks such as CPD for staff, Chartership Development, & Business Development.
6. Developing project briefs and tendering for subcontractors.
7. The carrying out of Structural Surveys and preparation subsequent reports.
8. The preparation of project specifications.

Person Specification - Essential

1. MEng. Civil or Structural Engineering
2. BEng Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum 10 years' experience.)

Desirable

1. MIstruct|E /MICE. Chartered
2. Incorporated ICE / IStructE

Experience - Essential

1. 7 Years within the industry
2. Two-Three projects involving with the following types of superstructure;
   • Steel
   • Reinforced Concrete
   • Masonry

Desirable

1. 10 Years
2. Three projects involving with the following types of superstructure;
   • Timber

Knowledge - Essential

1. Good working knowledge of both Eurocodes.
2. Experience working with TEDDS or similar.
3. The ability to carry out detailed calculations by hand.
4. Experience in the following materials
   • Steel
   • Reinforced Concrete (structures and Foundations)
   • Masonry
   • Timber
5. A working knowledge of Geotechnics.
6. A good working knowledge construction products in the marketplace.
7. A good working knowledge of CDM Regulations and Health and Safety Protocols.

Desirable

1. Good working knowledge of British Standards.
2. Working knowledge of one or more structural design modelling programmes.
3. The ability to carry out detailed calculations by hand.
