Job description

The Peninsula London is seeking to hire an experienced Social Events Manager. This role is responsible for driving and converting all social business to achieve the banqueting and private dining revenue targets, as well as maximising all revenue through upselling activities. It is also responsible for creating and delivering outstanding experiences for all Peninsula London social events through events and private dining bookings.

Key accountabilities

  • Solicit social business from all channels to drive revenue streams with the goal of achieving annual targets and guest satisfaction. Crossover, wedding & social budgets, event budget, private dining budget, and total hotel revenue will be integral to the success of this role.
  • Develop the social sales strategy in support of the Director of Group & Events, drawing up action plans for the segments with key social event planners, caterers, production companies, suppliers, and all direct channels. Yield meeting space daily to ensure optimum potential through the use of ONE PMS and Shiji systems.
  • Increase social events and private dining revenues through personalised proposals and effective upselling techniques. Always ensure cross-selling across The Peninsula hotels portfolio is applied for all appropriate interest. Build a loyalty programme where we ensure all social clients become clients for life.
  • Collaborate and identify opportunities with Sales, Revenue & Marketing to both drive revenues and enhance brand profile. The role will also be responsible for showarounds, webinars, creating proposals and invoices to support conversion. Also initiating billing procedures, ensuring client credibility and that deposits and/or applications are received with adequate information within an acceptable timeframe.
  • Ensure strong internal communication through meetings, pre-cons, post-conference reviews, and client feedback, through banquet event orders. The primary focus is to ensure a high level of service and guest satisfaction.
  • The role will facilitate all social bookings from initial client engagement to planning until the day of the event, with a key focus on attention to detail. Along with Marketing, the role will be responsible for formulating a marketing strategy to position The Peninsula London events and private dining as the premier venue in London for all social engagements. This includes all digital platforms that complement social events and private dining interests.

General requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of previous sales, banquet, events, conference services, and marketing experience.
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of management and staff. Self-starter; creative; independent yet team-oriented; excellent communication and presentation skills; socially adept; charming and people-oriented.
  • Fluent in English and a second language is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional personal presentation as this role will be a brand ambassador at sales events and conferences.
