Job Overview

The Assistant Portfolio Manager, Partner Markets - Northwest Europe is a key member of the Northwest Europe Brand team and a highly motivated marketer looking to leave a mark and shape the future of an exciting portfolio!

They will lead a region in either the Nordics or Baltics for the emerging brand portfolio and support the Jack Daniel’s portfolio of brands. Primary brand responsibilities will include Woodford Reserve, Glendronach, Benriach, and Gin Mare, supporting the Portfolio Manager on the Jack Daniel’s Family of Brands and Diplomático.

This role is both an exciting and challenging opportunity, developing strategies that will drive long-term growth within markets that have varying restrictions on advertising (Dark Markets) across the region.

Working closely with all global brand teams, regional stakeholders, and cross-functional teams within the Northwest Europe region. Getting in the market to build relationships with our distribution partners will be essential as the Assistant Portfolio Manager looks to develop their marketing capabilities for the future.

Meaningful Work From Day One

Brown-Forman’s business in Northwest Europe covers 9 markets consisting of Ireland, the Nordics (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland & Iceland), and the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania). We use a 3rd party distribution, working with 6 different partners, collaborating with and influencing their sales & marketing teams.

This role reports to the Portfolio Manager, Partner Markets - NWE and contributes to driving the profitable growth of the Brown-Forman portfolio of brands. You will support building the strategic plans of the brands and ensure best-in-class execution collaborating closely with the Portfolio Manager, the Business Development Manager, and Local & Global stakeholders.

This is a role that requires a strong ability to advocate & champion the brands, to build relationships across the organisation, and to collaborate effectively with local and global teams.

This is an office/hybrid role (4 days a week in the office).

What You Can Expect

  1. Brand Strategy execution and implementation
  2. Support the development of annual brand plans with partner markets, seeking approval from local, regional, and global stakeholders.
  3. Develop a close working relationship with global brand teams to align brand plans, long-term strategic direction, and collaborate on building the required assets for partner markets.
  4. Partner closely with Portfolio Manager and Business Development Manager for effective channel & customer programs across Off Trade, On Trade, and E-Commerce.
  5. Track and measure key brand and business metrics with actionable outputs and reapplied learnings.
  6. Be a brand guardian in ensuring the brands are creatively expressed in a super premium way and consistent with the Global Brand Guidelines across touchpoints.
  7. Help bring brand campaigns to life by working collaboratively with local partners and their agencies (Media, Experiential, PR) to ensure seamless execution & strong consumer engagement.

  2. Monitor brand performance through Monthly & Quarterly Business Reviews and determine corrective action where necessary in conjunction with local market counterparts.
  3. Manage and track the A&P budgets for the brand including regular meetings with finance and budget owners to track spend.
  4. Spend time in the market to understand practical implementation of all marketing promotional activities, competition, and understand the dynamics of the local market.
  5. Strongly partner with procurement and global teams to ensure local market needs are fulfilled.
  6. Identify and share best practices collaborating with other markets and regional/global teams.

  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with global brand teams.
  3. Work closely with key cross-functional counterparts, including Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Legal, Compliance.
  4. Be a champion of the brand internally & externally by organizing events and sharing local market best practices to promote the NWE region.
  5. Be a key knowledge point of contact for partner markets, support upskilling and sharing brand knowledge with local teams and counterparts.
  6. Act as a role model of B-F values.

What You Bring to the Table

  1. Experience working in a Marketing / Marketing-related or sales role.
  2. Passion and love for consumer brand marketing.
  3. Experience with analyzing data from a number of sources.
  4. Understanding of sales and operations.
  5. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  6. Must be willing to travel (up to 10-20% of the time).
