Ideally, this would suit a Contracts Manager who is keen to expand their current skills and experience (residential repairs / extensions / renovations) into specialising within the insurance industry.

Insurance industry experience is not necessarily essential (although desirable) but you will need to be keen to learn the principles of insurance and have a background in dealing with residential property refurbishments/renovations.

There are genuine opportunities to progress into more senior roles and/or train within the subsidence specialty over time (additional training & support can also be provided in terms of qualifications & memberships).

You will need to be very IT confident & will ideally have experience in building a scope of works using a schedule of rates; if you have used a scoping tool/system this would be ideal.

Contracts Manager Role and Responsibilities

  2. Schedule repairs/redecoration works and produce scopes
  3. Manage contractors and repairs projects to completion (inc. cost management)
  4. Ensure Health & Safety / CDM compliance & carry out site audits
  5. Identify new contractors for addition to the network as required
  6. Performance manage/audit the contractors in your area
What Skills/Experience Will You Need?

Experience in contract managing property refurbishments / renovation projects is essential. Some insurance claim damage or subsidence experience/knowledge would be ideal as you will be dealing with the ‘post subsidence stabilisation’ reinstatement works (i.e. crack repairs/redecoration etc.).

  1. Experience working for a contractor/social housing provider dealing with residential repairs/renovations
  2. Knowledge of insurance claims or fire/flood/water/structural damage to properties would be highly advantageous (not essential)
  3. Working knowledge of; Asbestos Handling, CDM, DPA, H&S, Party Wall Act
  4. You will need strong customer service, communication & organisational skills, be IT literate and have a full UK driving licence
