General Reinsurance, London Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Life Health Claims Specialist in our London Office.

Context of the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated claims specialist with excellent risk management skills. The Claims Specialist will be responsible for the assessment of a wide variety of complex life, critical illness, and disability claims for Gen Re in the UK and Ireland. From time to time the role will also include involvement in client audits and client meetings. This role can offer a flexible working arrangement if required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assess claims from a variety of product lines that include Life, Critical Illness and Disability Claims according to the Gen Re Claims philosophy and standards.
2. Make accurate claims decisions that include the validation of claims.
3. Provide excellent customer service to our reinsurance clients.
4. Assist clients to develop return to work plans for disability claimants.
5. Remain up to date with the latest claims trends through appropriate research.
6. Take part in Gen Re’s audit program including reports and recommendations.
7. Provide claims input into reinsurance business decisions as required – for example the reinsurance quote process or providing insight into philosophy changes and or claims best practice.
8. Participate in external Gen Re seminars, events and training as required.

Qualifications & Experience

1. Proven experience in the UK life health insurance or reinsurance claims (or similar market).
2. Excellent knowledge of the UK Insurance market.
3. Extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge of dealing with life, critical illness and disability claims.
4. Knowledge of the relevant UK and Irish codes of practice and legislation.
