Deputy Head Gardener required

Willowhayne Gardens Ltd are looking for an experienced gardener to join their team of like-minded, supportive and dedicated gardeners. This is a full time position for someone with at least three years relevant experience in horticulture together with 1 year’s supervisory experience.

Willowhayne Gardens Ltd are appointed to care for large domestic gardens to a high spec and work across West Sussex and Surrey. However, this position is for a specific role managing a team of 3 Estate Gardeners at our largest and most spectacular private garden. On the Estate is a separate team for the parkland and a separate team for the walled garden and edibles.

Willowhayne Gardens Ltd manage only the 20 acres of formal garden. There is a great diversity in gardening styles here, all on a significant scale and always to a very high spec.

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Have substantial horticultural experience, ideally in a private estate setting
  2. Be enthusiastic and driven to improve the formal gardens of this spectacular estate
  3. Be a supportive leader and mentor to your team
  4. Be a key part in managing relationships between Willowhayne Gardens Ltd, the Parkland team, the Edibles team and the client.

There is opportunity for further professional development, if you wish. RHS qualifications are offered to any staff member that shows willing.
