Major Recruitment are currently seeking a PROJECT SAFETY MANAGER / Permit Writer, for a highly respected client based in Middlesbrough.
£34,000 - £35,000 Annual Salary
39 Hours per week.
IMMEDIATE interviews available.
Requirements include:
- Occupational safety/health qualifications
- Technical training and/or industrial related safety and health experience
- Thorough understanding of company Health and Safety Management System
- Ability to recognise hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures is essential
- Good interpersonal and communications skills with multi trade disciplines, employees, subcontractors, and customer representatives
Basic Job Description:- Issue work permits (hot work, cold work, electrical, paint & blast) as required
- Perform gas testing associated with permit scope
- Ensure compliance with LOTO, energy isolation, blinding, etc. associated with permits
- Ensure equipment affected by the work permits has been cleaned and tested and deemed safe for the work to be performed
- Ensure areas within the permit scope are secure and all hazards (fire prevention, sparks, and chemicals) are abated before issuing permits
- Ensure proper PPE is utilised
- Monitor housekeeping throughout the work area
- Regularly oversee/audit compliance with permit requirements and scope
- Understand, interpret, and provide positive support to the company's Health and Safety Management Systems
- Participate in daily progress update meetings during project activities
- Daily interface and support of contractor safety department representatives
- Daily/regular project audits of work in progress
- Assist with daily safety observations to trend safety in the area
- Daily random auditing of active work permits
- Discussion with operations, maintenance, and contractors on issues pertaining to safety
- Communicate incident details to appropriate departments and/or contractors
- Daily auditing of lock out tag out, hot work, cold work, confined space entry, and working at height
- Tracking of near misses, first aids, and accidents
- Assist with inputting incident information into applicable databases when required
- Assist with accident investigations
