Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovation:Leverage industry best practices and emerging trends to maintain Canopy Cloud’s competitive edge in cloud brokerage and resource management.

Technical Project Leadership:

  • Project Management:Oversee the complete software development lifecycle—from initial concept and requirements gathering through architecture design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams and external partners, ensuring all project milestones are met on time.
  • Documentation:Produce and maintain detailed documentation for system architecture, project plans, and technical specifications.
  • Provider Evaluation:Assess and integrate offerings from major cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.) as well as emerging cloud technologies.
  • Cost & Performance Optimisation:Develop frameworks for performance benchmarking and cost analysis to guide recommendations on the optimal cloud resources for specific workloads.
  • Continuous Learning:Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to drive innovation within the platform.
  • Mentorship:Build and lead a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and business development teams to ensure technical solutions align with market needs and strategic goals.
  • Relationship Building:Negotiate and manage relationships with cloud service providers and third-party vendors to support platform integration and expansion.
  • Representation:Serve as a key technical representative of Canopy Cloud in meetings with investors, partners, and potential customers.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Cloud Computing Proficiency:
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience with leading cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure), including deployment, scaling, and monitoring.
    • Strong grasp of cloud economics and cost-optimisation strategies.
  • Software Development & Architecture:
    • Proven expertise in designing and building distributed systems and microservices architectures.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js, with experience in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Ability to develop solutions that balance performance, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Technical Project Management:
    • Track record of managing complex technical projects from conception through launch.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with an ability to translate technical details for non-technical stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern project management tools.
  • Startup & Innovation Experience:
    • Prior experience in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating agility and innovation under resource constraints.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to solving challenging technical problems.
  • Leadership & Strategic Vision:
    • Capacity to define and drive a clear technical vision while building and mentoring a high-performing team.
    • Strategic thinking that balances long-term planning with addressing immediate technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud brokerage concepts and platforms.
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect) are a plus.
