We currently have a vacancy for a Band 5 Specialist Dental Nurse:
15.0 hours / 0.4 WTE / Working days to be Monday & Tuesday. Based in the Walsall locality at the Brace Street Clinic.
There is a requirement to hold a post-registration qualification, certificate or equivalent in Dental Radiography and provide evidence of continual professional development, where relevant.
Working flexibly within the dental team to provide high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the Dental Service, based at Community Dental Services (CDS) including Mobile Clinics and/or additional external sites as required, and at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH).
Delivery of high-quality clinical nursing support for the specialty across Dental Services Division clinical sites to respond to the complex needs of the patients that meet the specialty criteria.
Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service and manage patients with complex dental, social and medical needs.
Support the taking of dental x-rays, clinical photographs and impressions.
Support recording of patient pre-operative assessments, e.g. height, weight, and blood pressure.
Liaise with the Tutor Dental Nurses, Dental Nurse Manager and other Senior Dental Nurses to ensure correct training needs are met for staff and apprentice dental nurses within the service.
Stock control/rotation and the ordering of dental consumables as required from appropriate suppliers.
Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids.
In conjunction with the Senior Dental Nurse, be responsible for ensuring high standards of Infection Prevention & Control and Decontamination processes.
Maintain patient confidentiality; support the management of concerns/complaints and implementation of audit outcomes.
Report, liaise and prioritise defective equipment to the Estates Department.
Prepare clinical environments including notes, x-rays, models and relevant equipment and clinical materials.
Support departmental inductions in the specialty for all new staff and students of varying grades within the specialty.
In conjunction with the Senior Dental Nurse, ensure that all daily mandatory checks are carried out and recorded including managing the clinical environment.
