Head of Accountancy & Finance - Permanent at MAC Recruit Group

MAC Recruit Group Accountancy & Finance Division are delighted to be partnering with a well established organisation in Glasgow City Centre as they seek an AP Compliance Manager on a full-time, permanent and hybrid basis.

This role will ensure that all accounts payable processes comply with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, compliance standards, and the ability to implement and monitor effective control measures.

The Accounts Payable Compliance Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams, manage audits, and work to continuously improve the accounts payable compliance framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain accounts payable policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, accounting standards, and tax requirements. Regularly update these processes in response to regulatory changes.
  2. Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with company policies.
  3. Lead and coordinate responses to internal and external audits, preparing necessary documentation and providing timely, accurate responses to auditor inquiries.
  4. Conduct regular risk assessments of accounts payable processes to identify and address potential compliance risks or control weaknesses.
  5. Oversee the vendor due diligence process, ensuring vendors meet compliance standards for both internal and external clients.
  6. Collaborate with the Accounts Payable Manager to design and deliver training on compliance, policies, and best practices.
  7. Keep the finance team informed about changes to compliance regulations and requirements.
  8. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
  9. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement best practices and ensure compliance across departments.
  10. Generate and analyse reports on compliance metrics and provide regular updates to management on the status of accounts payable compliance.
  11. Work closely with the Financial Control team to ensure a unified approach to compliance across the organisation.

To be considered for this position, you'll hold the following experience:

  1. Proven experience in a similar compliance or regulatory role, with a solid understanding of accounts payable processes.
  2. Background in audit and/or compliance is preferred.
  3. Part-qualified or qualified in ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or QBE.
  4. Strong commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest compliance requirements.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Ability to assess risks, interpret complex compliance data, and implement changes effectively.
  8. Proven leadership skills, including the ability to train, guide, and lead teams in implementing changes to internal controls.
