Job description

Senior EICA Design Engineer - Utilities/Civil Engineering – Cookstown (Hybrid) – Up to £50,000 Salary

As part of the Design Team, the EICA Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation systems for water and wastewater treatment projects.

The hours of work for this role are 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, in addition, this role is a hybrid role which requires 2/3 Days in the office.

This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that all EICA elements are integrated into the overall project designs, meet industry standards, and function safely and efficiently.

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems for water and wastewater treatment projects, ensuring designs meet technical and regulatory standards.
  2. Create and maintain electrical designs, including Single Line Diagrams, Component Based Developments, Load Schedules, Systems Architecture, Cable Calculations, I/O schedules, and Electrical Install.
  3. Support the development of control strategies for water treatment processes, ensuring proper instrumentation and control system functionality.
  4. Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and process engineers to ensure EICA systems are fully integrated into the overall project design.
  5. Produce and review technical documentation for electrical and control systems, including specifications, functional descriptions, and equipment schedules.
  6. Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases, ensuring that EICA systems are installed, tested, and operated according to design specifications.
  7. Conduct technical reviews of EICA designs to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry best practices.
  8. Work with procurement teams to develop technical specifications for electrical and control equipment, assisting in vendor evaluations and selection.
  9. Ensure designs adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements, with a focus on electrical safety and automation security.
  10. Support the project team in resolving EICA-related issues during the design and construction phases, ensuring technical integrity and project timelines are maintained.
Candidate Requirements
Experience Required
  1. 3-5 years of experience in EICA design engineering, ideally within the water or wastewater industry.
  2. Knowledge of control system architectures, SCADA systems, and instrumentation used in water treatment processes.
  3. Experience in developing electrical and control designs, including single-line diagrams, control strategies, and I/O schedules.
  4. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to electrical safety and control system design.
  5. Experience with electrical design tools, control system programming (PLCs, SCADA), and instrumentation.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  2. Master’s degree in Electrical, Control, or Automation Engineering. (Desirable)
