Job description

A reputable law firm based in Plymouth is seeking a skilled and motivated Private Client Solicitor to join their team on a locum basis. This opportunity offers the chance to work within a highly regarded department, providing expert advice and legal services to private clients across a range of matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in private client work, including wills, probate, trust administration, and estate planning, and be able to provide efficient and effective solutions to clients’ needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a diverse caseload of private client matters, including wills, probate, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Advising clients on estate planning, inheritance tax, and other related matters.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including wills, trusts, and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
  • Assisting with the administration of estates, including liaising with clients, beneficiaries, and third parties.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and firm procedures.
  • Providing excellent client service, maintaining strong relationships, and demonstrating empathy and professionalism in all client interactions.
  • Supporting the team in achieving departmental goals and objectives.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor with experience in private client law (minimum 2 years PQE).
  • Strong understanding of wills, probate, trust administration, and estate planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.
  • A proactive and client-focused approach to legal practice.
