Job Title: Removals and Logistics Operations Supervisor

Branch: Leeds, Unit C, Pelican Works, Wakefield Road, Rothwell, Leeds, LS26 0RP

Reporting to: Branch Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week, scheduled anytime between 7.00am and 5.00pm

Job Description: Logistics & Removals Operations Supervisor

Position Overview: The Removals Operations Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a removals and logistics business. This role involves assisting with logistics, managing schedules, coordinating staff, and ensuring that removals/logistics are carried out smoothly, efficiently, and in a timely manner. The assistant will work closely with the operations team, clients, and drivers to provide excellent customer service and ensure that all removal tasks are executed professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordination & Scheduling:
    • Assist in the scheduling of removals/logistics, including arranging appointments with clients.
    • Ensure the correct resources (e.g., personnel, vehicles, equipment) are allocated for each job.
    • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  2. Warehouse Management:
    • Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring that the warehouse is stocked with the right amount of goods to meet demand without overstocking.
    • Track inventory movement and perform regular inventory audits.
    • Ensure accurate record-keeping of stock levels, order status, and discrepancies.
    • Assign tasks to warehouse staff, such as receiving, packing, picking, and shipping orders.
    • Maintain a safe and organized warehouse environment by enforcing health and safety regulations.
    • Ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and operating at optimal levels.
    • Ensure the timely and accurate picking, packing, and shipping of orders to customers.
  3. Customer Service:
    • Serve as a point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and concerns related to their removals.
    • Maintain communication with clients before, during, and after their move to ensure a positive experience.
    • Handle and resolve any customer complaints or issues professionally and efficiently.
  4. Administrative Support:
    • Assist in maintaining records of completed and upcoming moves, including the preparation of paperwork such as invoices and contracts.
    • Update and maintain internal systems with accurate and up-to-date information regarding removals.
    • Prepare and organize job sheets and documentation for the moving team.
  5. Logistics & Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and track the movement of items, ensuring the safe and proper handling of all goods.
    • Help with inventory checks to ensure all equipment and materials needed for moves are available and in good condition.
  6. Team Support:
    • Assist with managing the workforce by ensuring that the moving crew is informed and well-prepared for each job.
    • Help with onboarding and training of new staff members, if required.
    • Work closely with the Branch Manager to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  7. Health & Safety:
    • Ensure that all health and safety regulations are followed during each removal operation.
    • Provide support in risk assessments and site surveys when necessary.
  8. Fleet Management:
    • Assist in the coordination and management of vehicles, ensuring they are available, fuelled, and in good working condition.
    • Ensure that all vehicles are properly loaded and unloaded as required for each move.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a logistics, operations, or removals environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Attention to Detail: Careful attention to the details of each move, including managing schedules, paperwork, and inventory.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment and support colleagues.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in using office software and specialized scheduling systems (training may be provided).

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time 40 hours per week
  • Office-based with occasional travel to job sites.
  • Some flexibility may be required to accommodate the schedules of clients or moving teams.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move light items when necessary (may involve assisting with physical aspects of removals).
  • Full Driving Licence
