Job description

On behalf of our client, a well-established law firm located in Kilmarnock, we are seeking a diligent and detail-focused Legal Cashier for a part-time position.

Previous experience in a legal cashier position, along with a SOLAS qualification, is required.

Reporting to the partner, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing financial transactions
  • Conducting daily and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all payments are accurately recorded
  • Processing invoices and disbursements for legal services
  • Preparing monthly and year-end financial reports
  • Monitoring client accounts for irregularities and reporting any discrepancies
  • Managing incoming and outgoing CHAPS, BACS payments through online banking
  • Processing petty cash payments and expenses
  • Ensure compliance with the Law society of Scotland accounts rules and other relevant regulations
  • Handling general account queries
  • Assisting with other legal finance-related tasks as needed by the team.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient in legal accounting software (preferably Denovo)
  • Solid understanding of legal finance compliance
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills

The position will cover 15 – 20 hour per week.
