Job summaryTherole of Specialised Services Clinical Panel Member is to provide impartial,evidence based clinical advice and leadership to:
- supportservice innovation and transformation in clinical priority areas throughclinical commissioning policy and service specification development

- understandNHS England and specialised commissioning corporate priorities
- assessthe research evidence presented, taking account of any specific expert clinicalconsensus advice provided in order to reach a judgement on the proposed policy/ development or recommended actions
- provideclinical advice in developing specialised services commissioning products
- understandthe need to ensure value in the use of NHS resources
- participatein web-conference meetings of the Clinical Panel, although extraordinary faceto face Panels maybe organised.
- provideclinical advice as necessary in national Service Reviews
The appointment isoffered on a remunerated sessional basis, for a period of up to three years,with an annual review of progress. Two PAs equivalent per Panel meeting (onefor preparation and one for attendance) with employment remaining with the hostorganisation. Up to 12 Panel meetings (monthly) per annum.
Main duties of the jobThe role willinvolve:
- sufficientpreparation prior to Panel meetings in order to fully understand and considerall the documents provided
- preparationand presentation of an introduction to usually between 1 or 2 of the items onthe agenda (not expected every meeting) in order to assist the Panel tounderstand, discuss and determine the Panels recommendation
