Job Description:

Storage and Back up Engineer – SC Cleared

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Storage and Back up Engineer – SC Cleared.

You will be required to use an FCSA Accredited Umbrella Company for this role.

Must not have been outside of the UK for more than 6 months in the last 5 years.

Key Requirements:

1. The successful applicant will be expected to investigate storage problems on EMC storage with Brocade or Cisco SAN switches, as well as ensuring successful backups are taken, so a methodical approach to problem determination is crucial.
2. To perform day to day Storage & Backup Administration.
3. The role will also provide opportunities to assist with project and transition work as required. We are looking to employ someone with an aptitude for Infrastructure support, keen to expand their skills in Storage, Backup and SAN support.
4. Someone who can work in a busy and challenging environment, with a proven track record in day-to-day support and project work, delivering to high quality standards.
5. On Call and overtime as required.

Your Role:

• BAU support of the SAN environment.

Key Experience/Skills:

1. Performing daily checks.
2. Storage allocation/deallocation.
3. SAN switch zoning.
4. Firmware upgrades.
5. Managing Backups (end to end configuration, rerunning failed backups).
6. Tape Management/Rotation.
7. Maintaining documentation.
8. Producing management reports.
9. Implementing changes according to client change management process.
10. Problem management/resolution using SNOW.
11. Disaster recovery testing.

Your Profile:

1. HP and EMC Storage.
2. Brocade and Cisco SAN switches.
3. Storage Management software skills.
4. Familiarity with SAN Switch Management commands (Brocade, and Cisco).
5. Familiarity with Veritas Netbackup.
6. Familiarity with SNOW Incident and Change Management.
7. An understanding of EMC Networker and HP Data Protector.
8. A keen team player prepared to work alongside more experienced members of the team and embrace new technologies and skills.
