Connor Consulting International is looking for a Manager to join our Royalty Audit team. This remote role offers the opportunity to lead complex royalty audits for global clients in the music sector.
If you’re passionate about the music business and have experience auditing royalty streams for record labels, music publishers, or streaming platforms, this is your chance to grow with a dynamic, fast-growing firm, while working with some of the most exciting companies in the world.
Overview:
Connor Consulting International delivers highly specialized accounting and advisory services focused on contract, license, and royalty compliance. Our relentless pursuit of excellence, innovation, and professionalism has earned us the confidence of some of the world’s leading technology and media companies. With deep industry expertise, our experienced teams ensure clients receive best-in-class support and insights.
As our business continues to grow, we’re seeking a talented professional to help expand our royalty audit capabilities in the music industry and lead high-impact projects with global clients. In this role, you’ll serve as a key leader on our engagement teams, using your auditing expertise and music industry knowledge to manage complex audits for major music and entertainment companies. You’ll oversee all phases of the audit process, from planning and data analysis to reporting, while upholding the highest standards of quality and client service.
If you thrive on interpreting contracts, analyzing royalty statements, and collaborating with a high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute royalty compliance audits for clients in the music industry, including record labels, music publishers, and digital streaming services, covering all phases from planning and fieldwork to reporting.
- Travel occasionally to client sites or industry events (up to approximately 25%) to conduct on-site procedures or engage directly with clients. While this is a remote role, some travel may be required for specific engagements.
- Present audit results to clients in a clear and professional manner, including drafting audit reports, summarizing key findings, and supporting settlement discussions or claim resolutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders, including legal, finance, and operations, to gather information, conduct interviews, and communicate audit progress and results.
- Analyze royalty statements and large datasets using Excel and other analytical tools to verify payment accuracy, identify underreported royalties, and prepare detailed audit schedules and calculations.
Requirements:
- Experience and Background: A minimum of 5 years of audit, accounting, or finance experience is required for Manager-level candidates, and 8 or more years for Senior Manager-level candidates. Significant exposure to royalty audits or accounting in the music and entertainment industry is essential. Prior experience in a Big Four firm or similar consulting environment is strongly preferred.
- Music Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of music industry royalty auditing is highly required. Experience auditing or working with record label royalty statements, music publishing income, or streaming revenue data is a strong advantage. Familiarity with other areas of media and entertainment, such as film, television, or gaming, is also valued.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. CPA, MBA, or other relevant certifications are a plus, though not mandatory.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential, including use of pivot tables, lookups, and managing large datasets. Experience with data analytics tools such as Access, SQL, or BI platforms is a plus. Familiarity with music royalty accounting systems or databases from performing rights organizations (e.g., ASCAP, BMI, SESAC) is a bonus but not required. - Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to interpret complex contract language and translate it into clear, quantitative insights. Comfort working with detailed financial data and drawing actionable conclusions is essential.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are critical. You must be able to explain complex financial and contractual information clearly to both clients and colleagues. Fluency in English is required, and additional language skills are a plus.
- Leadership and Teamwork: A professional and collaborative mindset with a demonstrated ability to lead projects and contribute hands-on, is important. Candidates should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote work environment. The ability to work independently while fostering a strong team culture is key.
- Adaptability: A high level of integrity, accountability, and a continuous learning mindset are essential. Flexibility and enthusiasm to take on a range of client engagements in a dynamic, high-growth firm are important.
