Human Resources Coordinator at Hewland Engineering

Due to Hewland’s continued expansion and strong product portfolio across both motorsport and future automotive, we are looking to recruit a logistics operative to support goods in/stores.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Inventory Management & Stock Control

  • Receiving, inspecting, and storing raw materials, machined components, and precision-engineered parts.
  • Conducting regular stock checks and cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory levels.
  • Updating inventory management systems (ERP/MRP) with real-time stock movements.
  • Operating saws based on cover period.

Goods In & Dispatch Operations

  • Checking incoming shipments against purchase orders, ensuring compliance with quality and specification standards.
  • Handling raw materials such as high-grade alloys, steels, and composite materials used in precision engineering.
  • Packing and dispatching.
  • Coordinating with couriers and freight partners to ensure on-time deliveries.

Compliance, Quality & Documentation

  • Adhering to AS9100 (Aerospace) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management) standards in inventory handling.
  • Ensuring full traceability of materials by maintaining accurate documentation, including batch numbers, heat treatment certificates, and supplier CoCs (Certificates of Conformance) where applicable.
  • Reporting any non-conforming materials or damaged goods to quality control teams for further inspection.

Safety & Handling of Specialist Equipment

  • Operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and lifting equipment.
  • Following hazardous materials handling procedures for oils, lubricants, and coatings used in gearbox manufacturing.
  • Ensuring all storage areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Working closely with procurement, production, and quality teams to optimize stock flow and reduce lead times.
  • Identifying process improvements to enhance material efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Ad Hoc tasks as deemed necessary by the business.

The ideal candidate must have/skills required:

  • Must have a full driving license.
  • Self-starter, motivated.
  • Good time management.
  • Team player.
  • Basic IT skills, use of email, teams, MRP/ERP systems, data entry, reporting.
  • Understanding of materials, equipment, and services in engineering-related business.
  • Experience in stores, logistics, and warehousing in Automotive, aerospace, defence, or motorsport.
  • Understanding of EN9100 and ISO9001 quality management standards in inventory handling.
  • Forklift truck license (FLT) or overhead crane operation certification (preferred but not essential).
