Job description

ERM, the world's largest pure play sustainability consultancy, is seeking an EIA professional with DCO experience to join our large and diverse Capital Project Delivery team. Offers can be made at Senior, Managing, or Principal level depending on experience. Hybrid working is available from any of our 16 UK offices.

You'll be providing environmental consultancy services to internal and external clients, as well as supervising/leading the work of more junior team members. You'll coordinate environmental inputs for planning applications ranging from screening and scoping to environmental appraisals and large-scale EIA projects, as well as post-planning condition discharge.

In this role, you will coordinate or project manage (depending on your career level) complex projects that support the low carbon economic transition, including:
  1. wine energy
  2. solar
  3. battery storage
  4. electrical transmission and grid connections
  5. hydrogen production, storage, transmission, and use
  6. carbon capture and storage
  7. mining
  8. high-speed rail
  9. data centres
This role is predominantly focused on onshore projects; however, the onshore and marine teams work closely, so you'll also have the opportunity to gain experience in offshore activities if desired.

You'll navigate projects through licensing and consenting processes including NSIP/DCO, provide strategic advice to clients, and help ensure that projects are delivered to schedule and budget. You will maintain and enhance existing client relationships and represent the company at client meetings, conferences, and events.

About you
  • Degree qualified in an environmental discipline
  • Solid work experience in similar roles in either a consulting, regulatory, or industry environment
  • Strong understanding of environmental impact assessments
  • Experience drafting screening and scoping reports, technical reports, and EIA chapters
  • Experienced in navigating the Development Consent Order (DCO) process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP)
  • Chartered or working towards chartered status (i.e. IEMA)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English)
