Risk Manager

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Risk Manager to join their team in London. This role offers an exciting opportunity, where you will be responsible for identifying and managing operational risks, conducting regular risk assessments, and developing risk mitigation strategies. You will play a crucial role in ensuring business continuity by monitoring risk exposures and operational trends that could impact Back Office functions.

What you'll do:

1. Collaborate with Back Office teams to identify and assess operational risks in daily processes.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and control reviews, documenting potential vulnerabilities.
3. Monitor risk exposures and operational trends that could impact Back Office functions.
4. Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time risk information to senior management.
5. Prepare and present risk reports for governance forums, highlighting critical issues.
6. Design and implement key risk controls in partnership with operational teams.
7. Perform periodic control testing to ensure effectiveness.
8. Investigate operational incidents, documenting root causes, and coordinating with relevant departments to implement corrective actions.
9. Support the development of risk mitigation strategies.
10. Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

What you bring:

1. 7-10 years of experience in operational risk management or related roles within the financial industry.
2. Proven ability to perform tests of controls (design and operating effectiveness).
3. Strong understanding of operational processes, risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
4. Proficiency in risk management software and tools (e.g., GRC platforms).
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Experience in managing regulatory exams and relationships with examiners and auditors.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills, inquisitive nature, and comfort challenging current practices.
8. Ability to work collaboratively with regional and global partners in other functional units.
9. Strong organisational, project management, and multi-tasking skills.
10. BA in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
