Care after Combat – Regional Coordinator (Devon)

£11,800 a year – Part-time

Location: Home based in the Devon area of England with regular travel required to Prisons in your area.

Responsible to: Operations Lead

Responsible for: One-to-one support of Veterans involved in the Justice System and the co-ordination and delivery of Veteran Group Forums within Prisons, delivering Op NOVA.

Main Role and Responsibilities

As a Regional Co-ordinator based in Devon, you will work within multiple identified prisons in that region, collaborating with other support agencies and statutory services. You will introduce veterans in prison to Care after Combat and sign them up to the NHS England Op NOVA support package. You will facilitate regular forums and deliver one-to-one support sessions with veterans to identify and understand their individual needs. Additionally, you will work with Resettlement Teams, Probation Services, and other support services to ensure veterans are prepared for reintegration into the community post-release.

You will be supported by the Operations Lead (your Line Manager) and the wider Care after Combat Team.

Duties can include but are not limited to:

  1. Implementation of Care after Combat’s support services via NHSE Op NOVA;
  2. Collaboration with third parties as required;
  3. Key holder responsibilities for identified prisons;
  4. Travel to and work with identified prisons;
  5. Arranging and facilitating group forums for veterans within the prison environment;
  6. Delivery of awareness training in veteran-specific issues to healthcare and prison staff;
  7. Partnership with Prison Liaison Officers/Relevant prison staff;
  8. Networking with relevant organisations and charities;
  9. Representation of Care after Combat and Op NOVA in line with the charity's aims and values;
  10. Updating Case Management systems to maintain cases relating to service users;
  11. Providing clear reports in accordance with Care after Combat and Op NOVA reporting policies;
  12. Other relevant duties assigned by the Operations Lead.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • Employment rights to live and work in the UK
  • Level 4 Information, Advice and Guidance or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • Full and clean driving license

Experience/Knowledge

  • A Veteran or relevant experience with the Armed Forces or within the Prison Service
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams
  • Development of local networking across the region

Skills

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in mentoring or delivering support services
  • Ability to provide high-quality written reports
  • Experience or skills in managing group work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to network and negotiate
  • Able to accept responsibility and respond confidently to complex problems
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently towards deadlines
  • Ability to establish links with other charities and services for best practice.

Working Conditions

Care after Combat takes the safety of its staff and volunteers seriously. This role involves working inside prison environments, which can present challenges. All visitors must follow individual prison policies and procedures. This role will be subject to a full enhanced DBS check and National Offender Management Vetting.
