Salary - £30,000 - £32,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join the finance team of a growing company based in the Saffron Walden area. As the company continues to grow they are looking for someone who ideally is AAT qualified or studying towards this, to support their daily accounting operations and ensure financial records are maintained accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and processing transactions.
  2. Handle purchase and sales ledger duties, including invoice processing and reconciliations.
  3. Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding account queries.
  4. Prepare supplier payment runs and customer refunds.
  5. Prepare and post journals.
  6. Support bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  7. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  8. Work closely with the Group Financial Controller on projects.

Skills & Experience Required

  1. Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar finance role.
  2. AAT Level 2 or higher (or working towards a qualification) is desirable.
  3. Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
  4. Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
  5. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
