Workshop Fitter
Overview:
- A leading engineering company is seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter.
- Responsible for stripping, assessing, and rebuilding pumps.
- Work closely with internal teams to maintain efficiency and quality.
Job Purpose:
- Perform accurate stripping and assessment of pumps.
- Liaise with administrative staff and the Workshop Supervisor.
- Complete root cause analyses (RCAs) and maintain accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess pump repairs, determine necessary spare parts, and rebuild pumps.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and colleagues.
- Participate in an on-call rota (typically 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 weeks, depending on staffing).
- Attend customer sites and branches to support workshops when needed.
- Ensure assessments are completed accurately and on time.
- Work closely with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure precise pump assessments.
- Promote best practices in Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance, Team Behaviour & Collaboration, Housekeeping & Workshop Cleanliness, and Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid Driving License.
- Mechanical Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience in pump repair and general engineering practices.
- Ability to use engineering measuring equipment.
- Health & Safety training.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
- BTEC National Certificate/Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Electrical Training & Basic Electrical Experience.
- Safety Passport Certification.
- Pump OEM Training.
- Experience in Laser Alignment.
Experience & Competencies:
- Hands-on experience in bench fitting and on-site diagnostics.
- Ability to write root cause failure reports.
- Experience in providing written quotations to clients.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with site engineers and managers.
- Customer-focused approach with a drive to provide excellent service.
- Ability to embrace and manage change in a dynamic work environment.
- Team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to adapt.
