Job description

This Rapid Response Technician will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within Network Operations based in our Croydon office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.

You will attract a salary of £39,615 dependant on experience and a bonus of 3%.

If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.

Job Purpose

The position, working as part of the Croydon & Kingston Area team, will be responsible for the restoration of LV & HV supplies on the UK Power Networks distribution systems. After a period of appropriate training, you will be required to carry out the full range of activities including first line response work at voltages up to 33kV.

Duties

  • Location of faults on the Distribution network
  • The restoration of HV & LV supplies
  • Testing and switching on the HV & LV network – and understanding the results of the tests and acting appropriately
  • Any other relevant jointing duties
  • Supervision of excavating teams
  • Understanding operational and 1:500 diagrams
  • LV and HV jointing
  • Use of appropriate IT equipment including TDR, LV Faults sniffer and FFE equipment
  • Immediate supervision of a working party

Qualifications & Experience:

  • HV Switching
  • City and Guilds 2339, formally 232, or be willing to undertake a course of study to achieve this
  • IOSH Managing Safety or be willing to undertake a course of study to achieve this
  • Streetworks qualification Units 1, 2, 3 and supervisor
  • Flexibility and able to work alone and in a team environment
  • Ability to problem solve in a practical way
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Must have a clean driving licence
