PLEASE NOTE: This role is working for the UK Government so you will need to hold a British Passport in order to be security cleared.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Serve as an SME of Databases and provide assistance to production lifecycle teams: development, infrastructure, testing, and production. This may require occasional travel to sites nationwide and working out of hours and being on-call.
2. Monitor, maintain, and tune databases to optimize availability of the server, as well as troubleshoot performance.
3. Create suitable Database alerts and proactively monitor, respond to, and action alerts.
4. Troubleshoot performance and connection issues.
5. Build environments based on standards and best practices that align with operational and business requirements.
6. Monitor database maintenance scripts for backups, index rebuild/defragmentation, and database statistics.
7. Produce, maintain, and ensure backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.

Essential Experience Required:

Experienced in database technologies and a good understanding of SQL development and scripting tools.
