Job description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Plant Fitter/Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. This role is based at our workshop in Small Dole, with occasional site visits for breakdowns. You will play a vital part in maintaining and repairing our fleet of plant equipment and vehicles, ensuring they are reliable, safe, and ready for operation.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing plant equipment and vehicles while adhering to manufacturers' guidelines and safety protocols. You will maintain a safe working environment by following all health, safety, and environmental standards. Additionally, you will inspect, test, and tag equipment prior to site delivery to ensure it complies with safety requirements and is fully operational.

You will also perform fabrication, welding, and gas cutting tasks as required. Collaborating closely with the Workshop Manager, you will manage scheduled repairs as well as address unscheduled issues as they arise. Accurate completion and maintenance of service records for all work will be a key part of your responsibilities.

You will attend site and workshop inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to stay updated on best practices. Supporting the training and development of apprentices within the department will also be an important aspect of the role.

Your Expertise:

We are looking for someone who has experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy plant, vehicles, tools, and equipment. You should have a solid understanding of hydraulics, electrics, mechanics, pneumatics, and 2-stroke engines. Competence in basic fabrication, welding, and diagnostics is essential.
