Accounts Assistant & Analyst

Location: Telford, please ensure that you currently reside within a commutable distance before application.

Hours: 9am until 5.30pm but needs to be flexible to meet deadlines.

Wage: GBP27,000 minimum starting salary dependent on experience.

We are a small local company that values efficiency, accuracy, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative working environment. We are looking to expand our friendly team of nine who are logical thinkers, have strong numeracy, excellent multitasking experience, are detail-oriented, possess very good organisational skills, can remain calm in challenging situations, and are motivated to consistently meet deadlines.

We supply general bookkeeping services in a niche industry, having clients all over the UK and USA. In addition to general bookkeeping, we also process our clients' weekly sales reports, pay their contractors, compile other Excel-based reporting, and work with them on break-even and cash flow forecasting, all of which must meet various weekly deadlines.

The ideal candidate would have their own transport as, although we are based on a busy main Telford road, we are not on a direct bus or train route.

As an Accounts Assistant, your duties would include:

  • Processing supplier invoices and expense receipts/claims through Dext and publishing into QuickBooks.
  • Creating sales invoices in QuickBooks.
  • Completing bank reconciliations in QuickBooks, which can often include contra payments, processing credit card statements/receipts, and balancing through QuickBooks.
  • Checking entries in QuickBooks that others may have processed to ensure that invoices, both sales and purchases, have been correctly categorised and VAT has been entered correctly.
  • Compiling break-even analyses.
  • Monitoring cash flows.

Accounts Assistant Requirements:

  • The candidate must have excellent QuickBooks experience, including working with various locations/departments to create multiple profit & loss and other reports.
  • Good knowledge of VAT, including what can be reclaimed and what cannot.
  • Extended Excel, cash flow, and budgeting experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of Dext would be a great advantage but is not a necessity as training can be provided.
  • Enjoy working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment, as we have weekly deadlines that must be met.
  • Must be able to communicate with clients at all levels, have patience, and possess a good sense of humour.
