Shape better services as an Actuarial Consultant - GMP

Location: Home Based

We are at an exciting point in our evolution, defining and executing Capita Pensions Consulting's strategic goals as well as developing the next generation of market leading products and services. Our teams are trusted as scheme actuaries to over 200 pension schemes, and our actuarial services include advice on pensions strategy and funding position, regular valuations, journey planning, de-risking, GMP equalisation, and integrated risk management.

We are looking for a nearly or qualified Actuarial Consultant to join our GMP team. This is a rapidly growing team and represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in GMP equalisation and other rectification projects. The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of advice in relation to GMP equalisation and other rectification exercises and to deliver the results to clients.

Job title: Actuarial Consultant - GMP

Job Description:

  • To advise clients in relation to benefit rectification projects both for ongoing pension schemes and those heading towards buy in/out or wind up.
  • To carry out benefit rectification projects, liaising with other departments where required and to provide technical support to the rest of the department.

Key duties / responsibilities:

  • Working on client projects relating to GMP equalisation/conversion, NRA equalisation and other rectification projects with personal targets set, aligned to client delivery.
  • Supervising, checking and signing off the work of junior team members providing coaching, mentoring and feedback to enhance quality of work and development of colleagues.
  • Acting as the primary point of client contact on some projects.
  • Attending client meetings and supporting the management of the team's workflow to achieve client delivery.

What are we looking for:

Qualifications:

A part qualified or qualified Actuary (full study is available to complete your studies if required) or qualified by experience.

Skills required:

Essential:

  • Experience of working in an actuarial team ideally with GMP knowledge.
  • Knowledge of benefits legislation and best practice.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and able to work under pressure.
  • Proactive.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of PFaroe actuarial consulting software.
  • Experience of working in an actuarial role in a pensions consultancy.
